I just ran across this article on the Grist.com website. I love this story! My grandmother worked alongside many folks like this when she was a young sharecropper's daughter in north Texas back in the 1930's.

I'm still digging out the devil bermuda grass from one of my garden beds that went untended last season. It's one thing to want acres of garden space, but it's a whole 'nother thing to tend to them! :-)
