Winter Planting

Dear friends,

I sometimes think that garden work is as slow as a snail, and that I'm not making any progress at all, but then I remembered that since a year ago, I've put in new garden beds, planted landscape shrubs, trees, AND planted a total of ten fruit trees! For those who say that they have to have an acre before they can *do* anything, I say, PHOOEY! My city lot is tiny, less than 1/8 of an acre, and even with what I've already planted, there's still room for more.

In the veggie beds, I'm harvesting tender young mustard greens, spinach, pak choy (a Chinese mustard), and herbs galore....cilantro, parsley, etc. Yum! Sauteed with garlic, they make a simple, nutritious side dish, or mixed with beans, make a full meal.

It's been down in the upper 20's and low 30's here, but with some new floating row covers, my plants are snug and safe!

Keep gardening, and hoard that water, and have fun!

dig it!

Bobbi,
Couldn't agree more. Actually with our large acreage stifles me at times. I feel spread out too far and try to overdo too much.

I am ready for spring, though!!
